SAN ANTONIO – This weekend, red-hot UTSA Volleyball opens its fourth season of American Conference play. The Roadrunners begin their 16-match league slate at home, welcoming Tulane and Florida Atlantic to the Convocation Center for Alumni Weekend. Riding an eight-match winning streak, UTSA looks to remain undefeated in San Antonio and build on its best start through 11 contests since 1988.

THE WEEK THAT WAS
Over the weekend, UTSA made its second road trip of 2026, visiting the Space City for the annual Flo Hyman Classic. There, the ‘Runners took down HCU, Houston and rival Texas State. Friday’s win over the Cougars was the program’s first over a Power Four foe since taking down Virginia Tech in 2018. Head Coach Carol Price-Torok also secured her first Big 12 win with the squad, which had not toppled a conference member since besting Texas Tech in 2016.
A HISTORIC START
The Roadrunners are 9-2, boasting their best record through 11 matches since starting 10-1 in 1988. UTSA’s .818 winning percentage is its highest to end nonconference play in the rally scoring era (since 2001). With two victories this weekend, the ‘Runners would secure their first 10-match winning streak since 2014, when they won 15 straight across 54 days.
UPDATING THE RECORD BOOKS
Over the weekend, several Roadrunners surpassed notable career milestones. Junior Ally Tribe’s 500th kill came in the fourth set on Thursday at HCU. Two days later, Megan Hawkins’ final dig against Texas State sent the setter into conference play with exactly 500 in her career. Tribe and Hawkins lead UTSA in collegiate kills and digs, respectively. Meanwhile, Hawkins swelled her tally to 1,284 assists at the Division I level, matching the total of her 6-2 setting partner Valeria Ortiz, who holds exactly 1,284 of her own.
ABOUT THE GREEN WAVE
Tulane is under the direction of first-year head coach Derek Schroeder, who holds a career record of 287-236, including a three-year stretch at Jacksonville State from 2023-25. Last year, Tulane split the season series with UTSA, taking a five-set Halloween affair in New Orleans before falling in four sets on Nov. 9 from the Convocation Center. Caroline Tredwell, Ally Tribe and Gigi Mason all paced the squad with 10 kills during the win over the Green Wave, combining to hit .347 in the process.
ABOUT THE OWLS
FAU is under the direction of 15th-year head coach Fernanda Nelson, who holds a 216-180 record in her time with the program. The ‘Runners only met FAU once a season ago, with the Owls prevailing in straight sets from Boca Raton despite 15 Gigi Mason kills and a Megan Hawkins double-double. The win was FAU's first against the Navy & Orange, snapping an 11-match skid to open the all-time head-to-head series that included six losses in as many tries from San Antonio.
