SAN ANTONIO – Junior Andruw Villa impressed in his UTSA debut, placing second in the men’s 6k at the 2026 Sam Musgrave UIW Twilight, propelling the men to a third-place finish with an average time of 19:10 and 63 points. The women, meanwhile, completed the 4k with 131 points and an average time of 15:47, slotting them fourth at the Classics Elite Soccer Complex.
Villa clocked in at 18:17.47 to take silver in the season opener, with sophomore David Zuniga placing 12th in 19:08.15. Not far behind, freshman Zac Mangum was 14th in 19:15.42 and sophomore Austin Lyda was 22nd with a time of 19:31.49. In 26th place, newcomer Thomas Tamayo crossed the tape in 19:38.08, while classmate Matthew Cato was 35th in 19:53.76 and fellow freshman Murff McLaughlin was 40th in 20:11.83. Rounding out the group, newcomer Christion Meiners was 51st in 20:35.13, and junior Cortlin Salge was 88th in 22:58.88.
On the women’s side, freshman Cadence Harris led the way in 19th at 15:01.60, with classmate Kira Albino in 24th at 15:22.72 and newcomer Isabel Burke in 34th at 15:51.26. Senior Gracie Ortiz clocked in at 16:07.37 for 43rd, with freshman Ryland Ross-Jurado 53rd at 16:36.78. Also in action, newcomer Alexia Rosas placed 56th in 16:47.82, and classmate Lexi Long was 66th with a time of 17:19.60.
