UTSA Athletics saddened to learn about passing of football alum Jacob Graner

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA Athletics is saddened to learn that Jacob Graner, who played for the football team from 2016 to 2019, passed away on Sept. 12 at the age of 28.

The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home in Jasper, Georgia, on Friday, Sept. 18, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. ET, followed by services at 6:30 p.m. Catholic Mass will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, at Our Lady of the Mountains at 9 a.m.

An offensive lineman out of Dripping Springs High School in Dripping Springs, Texas, Graner appeared in 11 games (three starts) as a junior and two more games as a senior.

As a junior, Graner helped the offense accumulate 2,570 total yards with 1,918 coming through the air and 1,052 on the ground. He started at right guard in victories against Texas State and UTEP and was part of a unit that did not allow a sack against UAB.

Garner is survived by his wife, Natalie, his sons, Elijah and Mason, his parents, Walt and Victoria, his sister Grace (Mathew O'Brien), his brother Daniel (Holly Lingenfelter), his grandparents Wallace and Sue Graner and Shirley and Patrick Wilson, and uncles, aunts, in-laws, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations for the college fund of Jacob's children.
