SAN ANTONIO – Over the summer, both returning and new UTSA Baseball student-athletes continued their playing career during the collegiate offseason. Multiple Roadrunners picked up league-wide honors at their various stops, highlighted by Aidan Eshelman, Caden Miller and newcomer Zeke Bullard.
Coming off a freshman campaign with 39 starts at shortstop for UTSA, Aidan Eshelman stood above the rest while representing the Acadiana Cane Cutters. The incoming sophomore was named 2026 Texas Collegiate League Player of the Year, earning the league’s highest individual honor after a monstrous offensive campaign.
Eshelman batted .417, drawing 39 walks for a remarkable 1.140 OPS across 37 games. The Houston native produced 16 extra-base hits for a total of 73 bases, including two triples and a home run. His 39 runs scored and 44 RBIs both lead the TCL during 2026. After his stint with the Cane Cutters, Eshelman made four appearances in the Cape Cod league, notching five hits in 10 at-bats.
Representing the Hyannis Harbor Hawks was 2026 All-American Conference First Team selection Caden Miller. The incoming junior played in 35 Cape Cod League games, racking up 23 hits and a .712 OPS. With four home runs and eight extra-base hits, the Madisonville, Texas, native tallied 17 RBIs and scored 21 runs of his own. Miller was named the Second-Team All-League first baseman as his squad finished atop the Cape Cod West Division at 22-18 overall.
Zeke Bullard was named a Diamond Baseball League All Star at first base. The incoming freshman signed with the Roadrunners in November 2025 and recently graduated from College Station High School. Bullard played first base for the Jefferson City Renegades, who finished 20-23 over the summer.
Meanwhile, Jalen Owens impressed as a member of the Victoria Generals. The incoming sophomore made seven appearances on the mound, finishing 3-1 across his 24.0 innings of work. With 25 punchouts, he allowed 30 hits as the Generals went on to win the 2026 TCL Championship. In the title bout, he recorded two strikeouts, picking up the win on just 18 pitches.
Both Jorge De Los Santos and Nathan Hodge stayed in San Antonio, representing the River Monsters of the TCL. The duo combined for 19 appearances, posting 15 hits and seven extra-base knocks across 60 at-bats. The squad finished 24-18 overall on the season.
In the West Coast League, Jacob Silva made 33 appearances, tallying 29 hits for a .261 average. While also being struck by 10 pitches, the catcher amassed an on-base percentage of .432 and a .901 OPS. The second-year Roadrunner mashed a pair of home runs while racking up 17 RBIs as a member of the Victoria HarbourCats.
