ROADRUNNER CLASSIC RECAP

Over the weekend, UTSA hosted Gonzaga, East Texas A&M and IU Indy in San Antonio. The ‘Runners swept their way past all three foes, improving to 5-0 in September and remaining perfect at home. Sydney Bryant was named the invitational’s MVP, while Caroline Tredwell and Gigi Mason earned spots on the Roadrunner Classic All-Tournament Team. Tredwell amassed 10 blocks and 22 kills, hitting .556 in the process as her squad mashed .331 as a unit.

HISTORY ON THE LINE

In each of its past four matches, UTSA has finished with a hitting percentage of at least .300, including a .403 mark last time out against IU Indy. The program has not hit above .300 for five straight matches this millennium, making Thursday's contest at HCU a chance to extend an unprecedented streak in the rally scoring era.

HOW SWEEP IT IS

UTSA enters the weekend on a 13-set winning streak, matching its longest such stretch since taking 36 in a row during the 2011 campaign. The Roadrunners have swept each of their past four opponents while collecting five straight wins to open September play.

SYD-SATIONAL

Sydney Bryant made her collegiate debut this fall after redshirting the 2025 campaign with Vanderbilt. The outside hitter has logged double-digit kills in all eight matches to open the season, making her the only Roadrunner to do so. The redshirt freshman paces her squad with 116 kills this fall for an average of 3.87 per set.

On Monday, the American Conference tabbed Bryant as the league's Offensive Player of the Week, following a 40-kill, 10-block week on a .354 clip at the Roadrunner Classic. The distinction was UTSA's first since joining the league in July 2023.

UP NEXT

Following the Flo Hyman Classic, UTSA will return home for its American Conference opener. Tulane and Florida Atlantic await as the ‘Runners enter their fourth campaign as league members. Carol Price-Torok looks to improve on a 2025 season that saw the program make its first league tournament appearance. All the action from the Convocation Center will be streamed live on ESPN+ and available to follow live via utsa.statbroadcast.com.
