BLOCK PARTIES
Last Thursday, UTSA hosted UIW in an intracity rivalry morning matchup. The Roadrunners tallied 12 blocks in the win, setting a mark that still stands as a season high. Caroline Tredwell led the defensive charge with seven denials in the five-set victory, adding three kills and a pair of aces. A day later, the 'Runners racked up 10 more blocks over Tarleton State, surpassing double digits for the second straight match while earning their first sweep of 2026.
SET THE TONE
After starting the season 0-3 in first sets, UTSA corrected course at home. The Navy & Orange took both opening frames a week ago, doing so by a combined score of 50-36. Sydney Bryant led the way with 10 kills in the two stanzas, including half a dozen versus UIW. The home side took two match victories, improving to 3-2 and jumping above .500 for the first time on the young campaign.
LAST TIME THEY MET
Of the three foes rolling in this week, the Roadrunners have the most prior experience against East Texas A&M with six matchups. The first five meetings came more than 35 years ago before a 2023 clash in the Convocation Center. A dozen service aces and nine blocks pushed the home side to a four-set win, crushing the Lions 25-11 in the final frame.
Gonzaga hosted UTSA back on Sept. 9, 1994, sweeping the only-ever meeting between the two programs. Meanwhile, Saturday's bout with IU Indy will be the first in the 44-year history of Roadrunners volleyball.
UP NEXT
After the Roadrunner Classic, UTSA will trek to the Bayou City. Carol Price-Torok's bunch is slated to play at HCU and Houston before facing rival Texas State in a neutral contest. The Navy & Orange's first two contests will be streamed live on ESPN+. All the action at the Flo Hyman Classic will be available to follow live via utsa.statbroadcast.com.
