NORTHBROOK, Ill. — UTSA redshirt senior Bryce Grays has been named a nominee for the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®, Allstate and the American Football Coaches Association announced Monday.
Grays is one of 162 student-athletes from across all NCAA divisions nominated for the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, recognizing student-athletes and head coaches from every level of college football who are making an impact through community service, academic achievement and leadership.
Grays has volunteered his time with a wide array of community service projects and initiatives. He has participated in the Get in the Game, Save a Life and Power of Collegiate programs, as well as San Antonio’s MLK March, which is one of the largest in the country. He spends time at a local children’s hospital, has volunteered for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and Stomp Out Cancer campaigns and has helped with local toy drives. Additionally, he has worked local events such as the UTSA Diploma Dash, St. Luke’s Youth Track & Field Meet and the Democracy Prep School’s End of the Year Block Party. During UTSA’s 2023 Frisco Bowl trip, he helped prep and pack food for Frisco FastPacs, which provides meals to local children when school is not in session.
Grays also is a member of the UTSA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), on which he served as the Volunteer Chair, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
On the field, Grays has played in 37 career contests with the Roadrunners over the past three seasons. A money backer and special teams contributor, he has posted 36 total tackles, 22 solo stops, four tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles and one pass breakup.
In 2025, Grays appeared in all 13 games and registered 22 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, one sack and a forced fumble to help UTSA to a seven-win season that was capped with a 57-20 victory over FIU in the First Responder Bowl, the Roadrunners’ third consecutive bowl win. He made a season-best six stops in the 17-16 road triumph over Colorado State, and he also logged a sack for a 14-yard loss and a forced fumble against South Florida.
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team recognizes college football student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional commitment to community service, academics and athletics. Established in 1992 and presented by Allstate since 2008, the program honors players who use their platforms to strengthen communities and support causes important to them.
The 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team will be announced in September and include 22 student-athletes and one honorary head coach. One student-athlete will also be selected as team captain and receive the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy.
A selection panel composed of former Good Works Team members, college football coaches, journalists and other leaders connected to the award reviews nominations from across the country. Voters evaluate candidates based on the breadth and depth of their community service, demonstrated leadership, academic achievement and the measurable impact they have had on the people and causes they serve. The panel then selects 11 NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision players (FBS), 11 players from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), Divisions II, III and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) ranks, and one honorary head coach.
The Roadrunners will kick off their 16th season of football and seventh under Traylor against UTRGV on Saturday, Sept. 5. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at the Alamodome.
UTSA also will host Colorado State (Sept. 26), South Florida (Oct. 8), Navy (Oct. 17), North Texas (Nov. 14) and Tulsa (Nov. 27 or 28). The Roadrunners will travel to Texas State (Sept. 12), Texas (Sept. 19), Rice (Oct. 3), Tulane (Oct. 24), Florida Atlantic (Nov. 5) and UAB (Nov. 21).
