UTSA adds Italian multis transfer athlete Emanuele Bellanova

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA Director Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox announced on Friday that the Roadrunners will welcome Southeastern Conference transfer multi-event athlete Emanuele Bellanova from Missouri. Bolstering a youthful multis corps, Bellanova adds an SEC scorer to the squad for UTSA’s 2026-27 season.

“An already-established performer in high-level college athletics, Emanuel brings scoring experience on big stages throughout the southeast,” Fox said. “He’s shown the ability to do the work at this level and we can’t wait to help him reach his full potential in competition and in achieving his academic goals.”

A 2023 grad of Liceo Scientifico Amedeo Avogadro from Vercelli, Italy, Bellanova competed for two seasons at Missouri. A USTFCCCA and SEC All-Academic honoree, Bellanova registered a career-best heptathlon score of 5,457 to take sixth at the 2025 SEC Indoor Championships, winning the long jump section on a 7.33m (24-0.75) mark and taking second in the shot put on a toss of 14.37m (47-1.75) – both career-long measurements. In his rookie season, he registered an eighth-place decathlon finish at the 2024 SEC Outdoor Championships with a score of 6,279, logging a second-place long jump section finish at 7.05m (23-1.75) and third-place section marks of a career-long 52.41m (171-11) in the javelin and career-best 40.48m (132-10) in the discus. He also registered a collegiate-best decathlon score of 6,660 points in California at the 2024 Bryan Clay Invitational.

Before starting his collegiate career in the United States in 2024, Bellanova competed for FuturAtletica Piemonte, earning second place in the heptathlon at the 2023 Italian U20 Indoor Combined Events Championships on the strength of winning the high jump (1.93m) and placing third in the long jump (7.07m), registering a total score of 5,380 points. Earning third at the 2023 U20 Campionati Regionali Prove Multiple, Bellanova recorded a career-best decathlon score of 7,142 points after winning the 400-meter section and placing top-three in nine events. He also finished fourth in the decathlon at the 2022 Italian U20 Championships, scoring 6,547 points, and won the Valle d'Aosta, Piemonte and Liguria Regional Combined Events Championships in 2022 with 6,437 points.
