AUSTIN, Texas – For the second year in a row, the College Sports Communicators has selected UTSA track & field junior jumper Ida Breigan for a national postseason academic honor, as the organization released its annual Academic All-America Teams this week. With the announcement, Breigan becomes the first UTSA track & field student-athlete to be named to the Academic All-America First Team and just the sixth for UTSA overall. This is her second career honor, having been named to the third team last year in her first year of eligibility.
Among the most-decorated women’s Roadrunners on and off the track, Breigan (Frederikstad, Norway) is a five-time All-American long jumper for the Roadrunners and earns the First Team Academic All-America laurels after bringing her grade point average (GPA) to 3.78 in cyber security at UTSA. She is a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree and is slated to receive her third American Conference All-Academic and USTFCCCA All-Academic accolades this summer, in addition to appearing three times on the UTSA Honor Roll, twice on UTSA Dean’s List and once on UTSA President’s List in her three-year career with the Roadrunners.
Her production in the jump pits has been like clockwork for the Roadrunners, coming off a Second Team All-America performance while finishing 15th in the long jump on June 11th at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon at 6.34m (20-9.75), following up a First Team All-America nod at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville Arkansas, delivering an eighth-place finish at 6.35m (20-10) on March 13. This season, Breigan was indoor and outdoor American Conference long jump champion, earning her third straight indoor crown and second consecutive outdoor title. She ranked third among national outdoor performances with a 6.71m (22-0.25) measurement and was ninth indoor at 6.52m (21-4.75).
The indoor (6.58m/21-7.25) and outdoor (6.74m/22-1.5) long jump record-holder at UTSA, she has also captured the Norwegian and American Conference indoor standards. Earning American Freshman of the Year indoor and outdoor in 2024, Breigan garnered the American’s Indoor Championships Most Outstanding Field Performance honors in 2024, garnering both indoor and outdoor honors in 2025 and repeating as indoor MOP for the third consecutive season in 2026. She’s also a fixture on the women’s 4x400-meter relay, anchoring the squad to a 2025 indoor runner-up conference finish and the 2026 American outdoor title – securing both the UTSA indoor (3:36.32) and outdoor records (3:33.63). Her conference outdoor performances provided 20 points toward UTSA’s second-place outdoor American Conference finish.
Since the NCAA Championships, Breigan has earned sixth at the FBK Games in the Netherlands at the end of June and is slated to appear at the Norwegian Athletics Championships, July 23-25 at Trondheim Stadion in Trondheim, Norway. Ranked 63rd in the world and 29th in Europe currently, she’ll look to qualify for a repeat appearance representing Norway at the European Athletics Championships, August 10-16 in Birmingham, England.
UTSA’s last CSC First Team Academic All-American was football center Ahofitu Maka following the 2022 season.
