CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — Five UTSA women’s golf student-athletes have been named All-American Scholars by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).
Maria Bastarrica, Sydney Bisgrove, Kayla Black, Lauren Rios and Victoria Schuldt all were honored by the organization, which gives the program 11 honorees over the past two years combined.
This marks the third career WGCA All-American Scholar award for Bastarrica, while Bisgrove and Rios each collected their second certificate.
Earlier this summer, Bastarrica and Rios were named to the 2026 Academic All-District® Women’s At-Large Team for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom.
The criteria for selection to the WGCA All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics and continue to demonstrate the high-level academic achievements of our players. To be selected, a student-athlete must:
- Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
- Be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season.
- Have played in 50% of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.
