EUGENE, Ore. – Four members of the UTSA track & field team have qualified to compete this week at historic Hayward Field in the 2026 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Taking on the field of nationally elite performers in Eugene are Ida Breigan (long jump), Martín Kouyoumdjian (400-meter), Jemuel Miller (triple jump) and Daisy Monie (shot put). Competition for the Roadrunners is slated from June 10-12. Field events will be directly streamed on ESPN+ with telecasts of the main meet on ESPN and ESPN2.
The traditional meet format for NCAA Championships continues this season with the men competing on the first and third day, while the women will go on the second and fourth.
Opening UTSA’s action at nationals, Santiago, Chile junior Kouyoumdjian is set for the 400m, beginning with the semifinal at 8:41 p.m. CT (6:41 p.m. PT) on Wednesday, June 10. Kouyoumdjian finished fourth in the event at the American Outdoor Championships and went on to notch the second-fastest UTSA time in program history and the Chilean National Record in finishing seventh at the NCAA West First Round in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Nine quarter-milers will advance to Friday’s 8:02 p.m. CT (6:02 p.m. PT) final via the top two from each heat and next three best times moving on.
First up for the UTSA women on Thursday, June 11, junior four-time All-American long jumper Breigan (Fredrikstad, Norway) will make her first attempts in the opening flight at 8:40 p.m. CT (6:40 p.m. PT) at Hayward Field. The back-to-back American outdoor champ, Breigan finished eighth at the NCAA Indoor Championships and last reached nationals in Eugene in 2024 when she also finished eighth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. At the NCAA West, Breigan was seventh to advance to her second outdoor nationals appearance, hitting an NCAA third-ranked measurement of 6.71m (22-0.25) at the Texas Relays. The event will work through the two flights and the top nine will move on to three additional jumps of finals on Thursday.
Following slightly behind Breigan’, Mission, Texas senior Monie is competing in her first NCAA Outdoor Championships and is in the first of two flights of the shot put. Monie hit a UTSA all-time second-best 16.71m (54-10) at the Pacific Coast Invitational for her top mark of the season. After finishing fourth at the American Championships, she was 11th at the NCAA West. Her shot put competition is slated to begin at 9:10 p.m. CT (7:10 p.m. PT) and employs the same prelim to finals format as jumps.
Locking up the final scheduled performance for the Roadrunners, three-time All-American redshirt junior Miller (Bridgetown, Barbados) will compete in his first NCAA Outdoor triple jump since 2024 and his third overall on Friday, June 12, after winning the American Conference Championship and finishing 11th at NCAA West. Setting the school record at the American Championships at 16.69m (54-9.25), Miller ranks 10th in the NCAA standings and was a mere centimeter shy of claiming Barbados’ national record that has stood since 1992. In his last nationals appearance, Miller finished 12th in 2024, and was 10th in 2022. The triple jump will have the same field events format to reach the finals and Miller is in the first flight, starting at 7:10 p.m. CT (5:10 p.m. PT). Also potentially on Friday, the 400m final is set for 8:02 p.m. CT (6:02 p.m. PT).
