GREENSBORO, N.C. – With the Men’s College World Series beginning this weekend, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) released its 2026 All-Region Baseball teams on Tuesday. All eight ABCA regions consist of two position-based teams. UTSA earned two members on the NCAA Division I Central All-Region Second Team, with both Drew Detlefsen and Conor Myles adding to their illustrious campaigns.
The teams are selected by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association, with the process overseen by the ABCA NCAA Div. I All-America & Coach of the Year Committee. The committee is chaired by Brian Green of Wichita State and includes Mitch Canham (Oregon State), Chris Curry (Little Rock), Dean Ehehalt (Monmouth), Mike Glavine (Northeastern), Jeff Mercer (Indiana), Butch Thompson (Auburn), and Tom Walter (Wake Forest).
After leading the ‘Runners at the plate all season long, Drew Detlefsen was named American Conference Player of the Year. Coming off a 2025 outing in which he was named the league’s Co-Newcomer Position Player of the Year, the senior improved in nearly every offensive category.
The second-year Roadrunner paced the squad in batting average, games started, at-bats, hits, doubles, home runs, RBIs, total bases and slugging percentage. In 2026, Detlefsen ranked fifth among all of Division I individuals in hits (96), 22nd in total bases (164), 22nd in RBIs (70), 27th in batting average (.386) and 42nd in total runs scored (66).
Only seven pitchers in all of Division I action have earned more victories on the mound this season than Conor Myles’ 10. The Australian was simply stellar from start to finish, holding opponents to a .239 batting average while boasting a 3.28 ERA. For his efforts, he became the first Roadrunner to be named American Conference Pitcher of the Year, doing so with a perfect 8-0 mark against league opposition.
Throughout the year, Myles was named to five American Conference Player of the Week Honorable Mention lists as he racked up 65 strikeouts. Across 74.0 innings pitched, the third-year Roadrunner allowed just 68 hits and 23 walks for a 1.23 WHIP. His win on May 15 secured another conference title for UTSA as the hosts toppled UAB by a score of 19-9 in seven innings. One week later, the graduate went 5.0 innings without conceding a run, allowing just two hits as eight Tigers struck out in UTSA’s opening-round victory of the American Conference Championship in Clearwater, Fla.
In the Pat Hallmark era (since 2020), five Roadrunners have earned ABCA All-Region honors. Mason Lytle (outfield), Norris McClure (infield) and Jordan Ballin (infield) all did so in 2025 after the squad advanced to its first Super Regional appearance in program history. Simon Miller (pitcher) and Antonio Valdez (third base) each cracked the same list in 2023. Lytle’s 2025 showing earned him the lone selection to the All-Region First Team of the bunch. With Tuesday’s announcement, UTSA added its 12th and 13th members to the prestigious list in program history.
Detlefsen and Myles were each integral all spring during another successful campaign on the diamond for Pat Hallmark’s bunch. The Navy & Orange capped off the year with a 38-20 record, securing a second consecutive American Conference regular-season championship at 17-10 in league play.
