SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men’s basketball team announced on Thursday the summer addition of a highly experienced combo guard transfer for the 2026-27 roster, with Isaiah Coleman joining the Roadrunners this summer heading into the third season under head coach Austin Claunch. Coleman is the seventh offseason signing announced by the Roadrunners and has started workouts with the squad.
“Isaiah is a proven high-major player and elite competitor who brings size, versatility and toughness to our program,” Claunch said. “He’s a dynamic two-way playmaker who impacts winning on both ends of the floor with his ability to score, rebound, defend multiple positions and consistently make winning plays. His combination of size, versatility and competitive edge, along with his experience competing at the highest levels of college basketball, will add maturity and leadership to our locker room. We’re excited to welcome Isaiah and his family to UTSA.”
Adding another seasoned guard to the Roadrunners’ backcourt and coming to San Antonio with 96 games of experience at 6-foot-6 and 200 pounds, Coleman played 33 games with five starts as a wing last season at Oklahoma State. Helping the Cowboys to a 20-15 record and second-round National Invitation Tournament (NIT) appearance, Coleman averaged 6.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in 19.1 minutes, shooting 49.4 percent from the field.
Upon his transfer to OSU, Coleman was listed among the Lindy’s Top 100 offseason transfers, coming to Stillwater following two seasons at Seton Hall – where he led the Pirates in scoring, rebounds and was among the steals and assists leaders as a sophomore. As a freshman, Coleman earned Big East All-Freshman honors and played a key role on Seton Hall’s 25-12 NIT Championship team in 2023-24. Named to the All-Met First Team by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association following his sophomore campaign, Coleman registered 11 games scoring over 20 points out of 23 double-figure games and was 10th among Big East scorers in 2024-25. The Pirates’ offensive centerpiece, he averaged 15.6 points on 38.9 percent shooting from the field and 76.1 percent at the free throw line through 29 starts in 30 games. Pacing the team with 33.6 minutes, Coleman topped the squad with 5.3 rebounds and averaged 1.7 assists and 1.5 steals per outing. His rookie season received the first Seton Hall All-Freshman nod since 2015 after scoring 5.4 points with 2.4 rebounds, shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 71.7 percent at the stripe while playing just 18.2 minutes per game. He scored the most points by a Seton Hall freshman in five years.
Originally hailing from Fredericksburg, Virginia, Coleman earned a four-star recruit ranking from Rivals, ESPN and 247Sports, listing as the nation’s 18th shooting guard prospect and No. 4 player in Maryland by 247Sports. He averaged 17 ppg as a senior at Alex Harris at Word of God Christian Academy in Fort Washington, Maryland, and played for Team Loaded (VA) and Team Melo (MD) on the AAU circuit.
