Kouyoumdjian earns All-America Honorable Mention at outdoor nationals

EUGENE, Ore. – The first of four UTSA track & field student-athletes competed on Wednesday at historic Hayward Field in the 2026 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Opening the Roadrunners’ performances for the week, Martín Kouyoumdjian competed in the 400-meter semifinals, collecting All-America Honorable Mention.

On the opening day of men’s action at the national championships, the junior Chilean national record-holder Kouyoumdjian ran a time of 46.05 in the second heat of the semifinals, finishing 18th overall in his final race of the season. With the All-America Honorable Mention accolades, Kouyoumdjian increases his career total to three, adding to a pair of relay certificates at the 2024 championships.

The Roadrunners continue on Thursday with the opening day of women’s competition, as junior Ida Breigan (Fredrikstad, Norway) will make her bid for a fifth All-America honor at 8:40 p.m. CT (6:40 p.m. PT). Mission, Texas senior Daisy Monie follows with her first outdoor nationals appearance in the shot put at 9:10 p.m. CT (7:10 p.m. PT). Jemuel Miller will vie for his fourth All-America laurel on Friday at 7:10 p.m. CT (5:10 p.m. PT).
