Dynamic Duo Earns All-America Recognition

DALLAS Drew Detlefsen and Conor Myles added to their legendary final chapters at UTSA on Wednesday. The National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Association released its 2026 All-America first, second and third teams, highlighting 88 standout student-athletes from 19 different conferences. Both Detlefsen and Myles landed on the NCBWA Division I Third Team All-America list, earning national recognition from the storied publication.

The pair became the first UTSA teammates to pick up such honors in the same season. Detlefsen and Myles followed in the footsteps of Mason Lytle a year ago, becoming the sixth and seventh Roadrunners to earn All-America recognition in program history. Simon Miller (2023), Jesse Baker (2015), Michael Rockett (2008) and Mark Schramek (2002) round out the all-time UTSA list of All-Americans.

The NCBWA’s announcement comes one day after both Detlefsen and Myles picked up similar distinctions from the ABCA. Head Coach Pat Hallmark’s star pairing was named to the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I Central All-Region Second Team on Tuesday, becoming the 12th and 13th student-athletes to do so in the 35-year history of UTSA Baseball.

Only seven pitchers in all of Division I action have posted more victories on the mound this season than Conor Myles, who capped off his final collegiate campaign at 10-1. The Australian was simply stellar from start to finish, holding opponents to a .239 batting average while boasting a 3.28 ERA. For his efforts, he became the first Roadrunner to be named American Conference Pitcher of the Year, doing so with a perfect 8-0 mark against league opposition.

Throughout the year, Myles was named to five American Conference Player of the Week Honorable Mention lists as he racked up 65 strikeouts. Across 74.0 innings pitched, the third-year Roadrunner allowed just 68 hits and 23 walks for a 1.23 WHIP. His win on May 15 secured another conference title for UTSA as the hosts toppled UAB by a score of 19-9 in seven innings. One week later, the graduate went 5.0 innings without conceding a run, allowing just two hits as eight Tigers struck out in UTSA’s opening-round victory of the American Conference Championship in Clearwater, Fla.

After leading the ‘Runners at the plate all season long, Drew Detlefsen was named American Conference Player of the Year. Coming off a 2025 outing in which he picked up the league’s Co-Newcomer Position Player of the Year distinction, the senior improved in nearly every offensive category.

The second-year Roadrunner paced the squad in batting average, games started, at-bats, hits, doubles, home runs, RBIs, total bases and slugging percentage. In 2026, Detlefsen ranked fifth among all of Division I individuals in hits (96), 22nd in total bases (164), 22nd in RBIs (70), 27th in batting average (.386) and 42nd in total runs scored (66).

Led on the bump and at the plate by its star duo, UTSA made history once again in 2026. Coming off a 2025 Super Regional appearance, the squad finished 38-20 overall with a 17-10 mark in league play. During the final series of the regular season, the Navy & Orange toppled UAB by 10 runs, clinching a second consecutive American Conference championship for what was the program’s fourth-ever regular-season league title.
