No. 4 Texas Awaits in Austin

AUSTIN – In a rematch of last year’s iconic NCAA Regional, UTSA Baseball gears up for a trip to No. 4 Texas on Tuesday. The Roadrunners eye their fourth straight triumph in Austin and their second top-10 upset of the campaign. With two weeks remaining in the regular season, Head Coach Pat Hallmark’s squad looks to add a key ranked victory to its ledger and keep a four-game winning streak alive.

LAST TIME OUT

Over the weekend, UTSA hosted Wichita State. The Roadrunners played a Saturday doubleheader before wrapping up their first American Conference sweep on Sunday. The Navy & Orange posted three solid outings on the mound, including a career day from freshman Jake Qualia in the finale. In the sweep, UTSA cruised past the Shockers by a combined 21-10 tally and improved to 19-5 at home this year.

2025 AUSTIN REGIONAL REWIND

Last year, UTSA took the 87-mile trip up I-35 for its fourth NCAA Regional in program history. The second-seeded Roadrunners advanced to the Super Regionals with a historic upset, capped off by back-to-back wins over the hosting Longhorns. After a 12-inning win at UFCU Disch-Falk Field during the regular season (March 18), UTSA amassed a perfect 3-0 record in Austin across the 2025 campaign.

THE WONDER FROM DOWN UNDER

On Monday, Conor Myles was named to the American Conference Player of the Week Honorable Mention list. The Australian picked up his fourth such distinction this season. On Saturday against WSU, Myles tossed a season-high 7.0 innings with eight punchouts, no free bases and just one run. He dropped his season ERA to 2.43 and improved to 8-1.

For the season, Myles improved to 8-1 with a perfect 6-0 mark in league play. The Australian dipped his season ERA to 2.43, including a remarkable 1.79 tally in American action. Over his last 21.0 innings, just one earned run has come around to score.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        

JUST KEEP WINNING

In all seven American series this season, UTSA has come away victorious. The ‘Runners have won 18 straight league series, last falling to Wichita State in 2024 (1-2). Boasting a 15-6 record in American play, the squad recently climbed out of a three-way tie atop the league standings. The Navy & Orange hold a two and three-game lead over East Carolina (13-8) and UAB (12-9), respectively. With six outings left to play, UTSA needs five wins to secure its second straight regular-season conference title.

THE BATS ARE HOT

UTSA ranks inside the nation’s top 30 with 500 hits (19th), 14 triples (27th) a .431 on-base percentage (7th), 417 total runs scored (7th), 34 sacrifice flies (6th), a .312 batting average (14th) and 8.9 runs per game (10th) en route to the nation’s 20th best winning percentage (.702).

In 20 of 47 games this season, UTSA has scored at least 10 runs. The group is averaging more than a score per frame, plating 417 runners in 400.1 innings of work. The Roadrunners have hit multiple home runs in more than a third of their outings, doing so 16 times this spring.

ABOUT THE LONGHORNS

Texas is under the direction of second-year Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle, who holds a record of 79-24 in his time with the program. The Longhorns are coming off a series win over No. 10 Mississippi State at home, improving to 15-8 in SEC play. Schlossnagle’s group is averaging 8.0 runs a night alongside the nation’s 10th-best ERA (3.76) and third-highest average of strikeouts per nine innings (11.9).
