Myles and Detlefsen Headline American Postseason Awards

IRVING, Texas – On Tuesday, the American Conference released its 2026 Baseball Postseason Awards. Top-seeded UTSA headlined the reveal with two superlative award winners and six total all-conference selections. Senior Drew Detlefsen was named the league’s Player of the Year and graduate Conor Myles earned Pitcher of the Year honors. Detlefsen joined his former outfield teammate Mason Lytle as the second straight Roadrunner to be tabbed the conference’s top player, while Myles became the program’s first to earn his distinction since UTSA joined the American three years ago.

Four other ‘Runners were recognized by the conference, including three First-Team honors for Caden Miller (first base), Andrew Stucky (catcher) and Sam Simmons (relief pitcher). Meanwhile, junior pitcher Connor Kelley rounded out his squad’s accolades with a Second-Team selection.

Drew Detlefsen was remarkable at the plate this spring for UTSA, pacing the squad in batting average, at-bats, hits, doubles, home runs, RBIs, total bases and slugging percentage. His 3.52 ERA ranks fifth among qualified pitchers in the conference. The Australian’s 57 strikeouts came with just 19 walks as opponents hit just .244 against him.

Simmons and Kelley combined for 112 strikeouts and 12 wins with ERAs of 2.51 and 3.26, respectively. The first-team duo of Miller and Stucky racked up a total of 127 hits, 98 RBIs and 80 walks. Both batted over .300, with the sophomore’s .513 on-base percentage and 66 runs leading the conference.
