WHAT’S AT STAKE
With one win this weekend, UTSA would secure its second straight regular-season American Conference championship. Two or three victories would give the Roadrunners the outright honor. Across the entire history of the American Conference, every regular season champion has gone on to make an NCAA Regional. In 2025, UTSA became the 11th straight team to do so since the inception of the league in 2014.
SENIOR DAY
On Saturday, UTSA will recognize 10 graduating seniors in their final regular-season game at Roadrunner Field. Mike DeBattista, Drew Detlefsen, Josh Vaughn, Brandon Bishop, James Hubbard, Cade Sadler, Sam Simmons, Christian Okerholm, Gunnar Brown and Broc Parmer will be recognized for their contributions to the program ahead of another postseason run.
LAST TIME OUT
On Tuesday, UTSA hosted I-35 rival Texas State for its final midweek bout of the season. The Navy & Orange demolished the Bobcats, jumping out to a 16-1 lead after three innings. Fourteen free passes complimented 10 hits in a run-rule victory by a final margin of 19-4. Caden Miller’s two-RBI home run capped off an eight-run first inning as the sophomore was one of two ‘Runners with at least three RBI in the win, just behind Aidan Eshelman with four.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME
This spring, UTSA has played 25 games at Roadrunner Field, boasting a 20-5 record. The Navy & Orange finished 4-0 in home midweek games and have only dropped one series in San Antonio all season, falling to UT Arlington back in mid-March. In 11 of 25 home bouts, crowds above listed capacity (1,000) have been in attendance, helping drive an 11-2 record over the past 13 outings at the Bird Bath. On Tuesday, a program record 1,585 spectators flooded the gates of Roadrunner Field, crushing the previous high of 1,457.
THE WONDER FROM DOWN UNDER
On Monday, Conor Myles was named to the American Conference Player of the Week Honorable Mention list. The Australian picked up his fifth such distinction this season, doing so for the third straight week. On Saturday at Memphis, Myles (9-1) dealt 6.0 innings, allowing just two runs with seven punchouts in another walk-free outing.
With another victory, Myles maintained a perfect 7-0 mark in league play. The Australian moved his season ERA to 2.48, including a remarkable 1.94 tally in American action. Over his last 27.0 innings, just three earned runs have come around to score.
THE BATS ARE HOT
UTSA ranks inside the nation’s top 30 with 544 hits (19th), a .429 on-base percentage (10th), 462 total runs scored (fifth), 41 sacrifice flies (first), a .308 batting average (23rd) and 8.9 runs per game (ninth).
In 21 of 52 games this season, UTSA has scored at least 10 runs. The group is averaging more than a score per frame, plating 462 runners in 442.1 innings of work. The Roadrunners have hit multiple home runs in roughly a third of their outings, doing so 17 times this spring.
ABOUT THE BLAZERS
UAB is under the direction of fifth-year Head Coach Casey Dunn, who holds a record of 127-143 in his time with the program. The Blazers are coming off a Tuesday loss to Troy after dropping two of three against Charlotte in Birmingham over the weekend. Dunn’s squad has clinched its first postseason berth since 2024, with a sweep this weekend putting them in line for a potential regular-season league championship.
UP NEXT
After their season finale, the Roadrunners will head to the American Conference Championship in Clearwater, Fla. The eight-team tournament will open Wednesday, May 20, with the top two seeds not playing until Friday, May 22. A champion will be crowned on Sunday, May 24, granting one team an automatic berth to an NCAA Regional. All the action will be streamed live on ESPN+ and available via utsa.statbroadcast.com ahead of the title bout on ESPNews.
