LAST TIME OUT
UTSA hosted Incarnate Word on Tuesday, falling behind early to San Antonio’s other Division I program. A jaw-dropping 14-run fifth frame turned a 10-6 deficit into a 22-10 victory in seven innings. The 33.5-minute bottom of the fifth was the highest scoring inning on record in UTSA history. The hosts mashed four home runs and 20 hits in their most productive offensive output this season.
FAMILIAR FACES
Junior duo of Tyler Dobbs and Lane Haworth each played their first two seasons for Wichita State (2024-25). The Hebron High School teammates each transferred back to their home state ahead of 2026, setting up a clash with their former team this weekend. Haworth has started every game in the outfield while Dobbs (left-handed pitcher) recovers from an injury.
JUST KEEP WINNING
In all six American series this season, UTSA has come away victorious. The ‘Runners have yet to sweep a conference foe, but are 2-1 in each weekend set. With a 12-6 record, Pat Hallmark’s squad is currently in the midst of a three-way tie atop the league standings. UTSA has won 17 straight conference series, last falling to Wichita State in 2024 (1-2).
THE SOUTHPAW FROM DOWN UNDER
On Monday, Conor Myles was named to the American Conference Player of the Week Honorable Mention list, picking up his third such distinction this season. The graduate tossed 6.0 shutout innings, allowing just three hits and as many walks. Myles struck out three batters, including his final out of the night to close the sixth frame. He helped his squad cruise to an 8-2 win on Saturday, clinching UTSA's series win while at Tulane.
For the season, Myles improved to 7-1 with a perfect 5-0 mark in league play. The Australian dipped his season ERA to 2.58, including a remarkable 1.89 tally in American action. He has now thrown 14.0 straight innings without allowing an earned run, dating back to April 11 versus South Florida.
THEY’RE NOT CALLED HOMERUNNERS…
Of UTSA’s last 37 games, just 14 have come at home. Across the 23 games away from Roadrunner Field, the squad went 14-9, taking six of nine such games in American play. Five of the nine ‘Runner defeats came by one run, with three in walk-off fashion.
ABOUT THE SHOCKERS
Wichita State is under the direction of third-year Head Coach Brian Green, who holds a record of 78-85 in his time with the program. The Shockers are coming off a series win over Rice in which they outscored the Owls 20-7. On Tuesday, they fell in run-rule fashion to No. 11 Kansas at home. WSU ranks second in the league in scoring (7.7 runs per game), only behind UTSA. Exactly two years ago, Green’s squad handed the ‘Runners two weekend losses, sparking a streak of 17 straight league series wins since the 2024 matchup.
UP NEXT
Following their series with the Shockers, the Roadrunners will hit the road on Tuesday. UTSA is set to visit No. 4 Texas in a rematch of last year’s classic NCAA Regional. Pat Hallmark’s squad looks for its fourth straight victory at UFCU Disch-Faulk Field and its second top-10 upset of the season. All the action from Austin will be streamed live on SEC Network+ and available to follow via utsa.statbroadcast.com.
