SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men’s tennis team is hitting the road, as they’re set to take on Georgia State on Friday at 10 a.m., before battling UAB on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the UAB Tennis Courts in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Roadrunners (3-14) aim to finish the regular season strong, after falling to No. 51 Charlotte, 4-1, in their last bout.
Sophomore Oskar Grzegorzewski and freshman Maximilian Ontiveros enter the week tied atop the UTSA leader board with six wins apiece, while newcomer Constantin Radu, classmate Timeo Bretin, and sophomore Ben Chetewy Ungar each have four. In doubles play, the tandems of Ontiveros and Chetewy Ungar, Grzegorzewski and Radu, and Bretin and sophomore Enzo Vargas each boast three victories.
The Panthers (5-15) will look to avoid a three-match skid, with losses to Coastal Carolina and James Madison earlier in the week. Gustav Anderson leads the way for GSU, owning a 9-8 singles record, with Aleksander Andrin not far behind at 6-9. Andersson and Sota Minami are the most potent doubles pair at 7-5.
The Blazers (7-11) suffered losses to Mercer and North Alabama in their last two, and will take on Tulane on Thursday before battling the ‘Runners Saturday.
