BRYAN, Texas — UTSA moved up one spot in the team standings on the final day of the “Mo”Morial Invitational, which wrapped up Wednesday at Traditions Club (par 72/6,406 yards).
Led by a 3-over-par 75 from Lauren Rios, the Roadrunners registered a 309 to move into sole possession of 12th place with a 934, two shots ahead of Western Kentucky and seven in front of Lipscomb.
Rios paced the UTSA lineup by tying for 36th with a 232 on a course that played tough all week with an average score of 78.05 over three rounds. After opening with scores of 77 and 80 over the first two days, the senior from Coppell, Texas, fired a 75 that moved her nine places up the individual leaderboard. Her final-round scorecard featured three birdies, a three on the 356-yard fourth, a four on the 511-yard fifth and a four on the 520-yard 10th holes.
Playing as an individual, Sydney Bisgrove also grabbed a share of 36th with a 232. The sophomore from Canada bounced back from an 84 on Monday with a 75 in round two followed by a 73 today that led all Roadrunners. She wrote down birdies on the 380-yard, par-4 first, the 511-yard, par-5 fifth, the 369-yard, par-4 14th and the 509-yard, par-5 15th, as she climbed spots on the final day.
Daniela Abonce tied for 47th (83-73-79—235), while Victoria Schuldt (80-81-77—238) and Maria Bastarrica (78-75-85—238) were three shots behind her in a tie for 53rd. Kayla Black rounded out the lineup in a tie for 61st (82-80-78—240).
No. 3 and host Texas A&M captured the team title with an 885, followed by 24th-ranked Baylor (888) and No. 35 Missouri (898).
Johanna Sjursen of ULM claimed the individual crown with a 1-over 217 (72-73-7).
The Roadrunners will return to action on April 20-22 when they travel to Brooksville, Florida, for the American Conference Championship.
