‘Runners fall to Bobcats in Tuesday tussle

SAN ANTONIO— The UTSA softball team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Texas State in a Tuesday nonconference matchup at Bobcat Softball Stadium.

The Roadrunners (20-22) fell to the Bobcats (25-16) in game one, as freshman Arlette Hernandez (11-9) went the distance in the loss, while Emma Strood (3-4) earned the win for Texas State. Hernandez fanned six in the effort, while sophomore Sabrina Wick, redshirt sophomore Makayla Madrid and senior Katia Reyes all logged hits for the ‘Runners.

The Bobcats got on the board in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single, and they tacked on two more in the sixth to go up, 3-0.

UTSA will now head to Wichita, Kansas, where they’ll meet Wichita State for a three-game American Conference series spanning Friday through Sunday at Wilkins Stadium.
