SAN ANTONIO—The UTSA softball team will be back in action on Tuesday, as they are set to visit Texas State in a road Battle for I-35 at 6 p.m. inside Bobcat Softball Stadium in San Marcos.
The Roadrunners (20-21, 8-7 American) took one of three across an American Conference series with South Florida last time out.
For the ‘Runners, sophomore Sabrina Wick paces the offense with a .358 batting average, while freshman Brookelynn Meador, junior Taryn Madlock, redshirt sophomore Makayla Madrid and junior Samantha Mundine have all recorded over 20 RBIs. Meador leads the team with seven home runs, and Madlock is not far behind with six.
Freshman Arlette Hernandez has featured heavily in the circle with an 11-8 mark and a 3.27 ERA. She’s fanned 109 across 117.2 innings of action.
The Bobcats (24-16, 6-6 Sun Belt) got the better of UTSA in an earlier meeting, picking up an 8-1 victory in a contest that saw senior Madison Hornback knock in the Roadrunners' lone run.
TXST will carry momentum into the series after claiming a series victory over South Alabama over the weekend, as Keely
Williams leads the way with a .408 batting average. Aiyana Coleman tops the team with 29 RBIs on the season and has launched 10 home runs for the club.
In the circle, Madison Azua owns a 17-9 record with a 1.91 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. Also performing well, Emma Strood has a 1.20 WHIP and three victories across the campaign.
