SAN ANTONIO – It’s the final weekend of regular season outdoor track & field action for the UTSA squads, and the Roadrunners will be returning to E.B. Cushing Stadium for the second time this year with Texas A&M’s Alumni Muster on the weekend schedule, May 1-2 in College Station.
A two-day competition back in College Station, 30 Roadrunners (15 women, 15 men) will be making the trek. Impending weather is expected to impact this weekend’s meet, particularly on Friday.
The Roadrunners will go head to head with competition from Baylor, Blinn, Houston Christian, Iowa State, Lamar, Louisiana, Northwestern State, Penn State, Rice, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, Texas Southern, Tulane and host Texas A&M.
It’s a light schedule for the opening day of competition, with UTSA’s opening and lone events being the men’s discus at 4 p.m., followed by the women’s discus.
On Saturday, competition gets in gear quickly with field events beginning at 10 a.m. on the hammer, followed by the long jump and high jump at 11:30 a.m., then shot put and triple jump at 4 p.m. Running events open for the Roadrunners on the 1,500-meter at 2:39 p.m., followed by the 100-meter hurdles at 3 p.m., 400-meter at 3:22 p.m., 100-meter at 4:10 p.m., 800-meter at 4:27 p.m., 400-meter hurdles at 5:05 p.m., 200-meter at 5:25 p.m. and 3,000-meter steeplechase at 6:23 p.m.
