SAN ANTONIO – The first announcement of incoming transfers for UTSA men’s basketball is on the board. With the Roadrunners set for the third season under head coach Austin Claunch, the program announced on Tuesday the 2026-27 addition of point guard transfer Josiah LeGree.
LeGree will join the Roadrunners following one season at Morehead State, where the 6-foot, 165-pound point guard helped the Eagles to share the 2026 regular season Ohio Valley Conference championship with a 20-13 (15-5 OVC) record and OVC title game appearance. As a sophomore, LeGree played in 33 games with nine starts, averaging 7.6 points on 43.9 percent shooting from the field, 36.9 percent from the perimeter and 81.5 percent at the line. He led the Eagles with 115 assists and a 3.3 apg clip, ranking fifth in the OVC with a 1.86 assist/turnover ratio. Prior to MSU, LeGree started his collegiate career at Indiana State with 28 appearances, averaging 3.5 ppg and 2.3 apg, ranking second on the team with 64 total assists.
"Josiah is a dynamic addition to our program and someone we're thrilled to bring to UTSA men's basketball,” Claunch said. “He has the ability to score at all three levels, stretch the floor and make plays when the game is on the line. Beyond his talent, he brings confidence, maturity and a competitive spirit that fits perfectly with the culture we're building. We're excited to welcome Josiah and his family to San Antonio."
Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, LeGree graduated from St. Frances High School and led the Panthers to the 2024 Baltimore Catholic League title, garnering BCL Tournament Most Valuable Player, as well as All-BCL First Team, and was selected to the All-Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) First Team in his senior season. He joined SFHS from Parkville (Md.) High School, where he aided the Knights to the 2023 Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) Class 4A State Championship, was named to the 2023 Maryland Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) All-State Second Team and was a two-time Baltimore Sun All-Metro honoree (2023, 2024). In addition, he collected first-team All-Baltimore Country and All-Division accolades in 2023 and was second team all-county in 2022. He played AAU hoops for Team Thrill, helping his squad to the 2024 UAA National Championship, earning Session III Defensive MVP honors.
