This will mark the Roadrunners’ third appearance in the American Conference Championship after the school joined the league on July 1, 2023. UTSA tied with Rice for sixth place with a 5-under 283, the program’s best 54-hole team total versus par at a conference tournament.

Individually, Bare tied for 17th with a 5-under 211 (68-68-75), while Vargas was one shot behind in a tie for 19th (71-71-70—214) to lead the way.

In its conference tournament history — which dates back to the 1987 Trans America Athletic Conference (now Atlantic Sun) Tournament — UTSA has placed in the top five 19 times, including in three of its last six league championship appearances. The Roadrunners own six conference runner-up finishes, including twice in the last seven years, as they advanced to the Conference USA Championship Match in both 2019 and 2022.

Two Roadrunners have claimed individual league titles. Magnus Dohlvik recorded a 70-72-77—219 in 1997 to win the Southland Conference crown, while John Elizondo was the Southland's medalist in 2006 after carding a 67-71-75—213.

UTSA is coming a 10th-place showing at the Tiger Intercollegiate in their last outing on April 6-7 in Missouri. Bare paced the Roadrunners by tying for fifth with a 2-under-par 208 to notch his third top 10 of the spring season and fifth of his collegiate career.

Hong paces the Roadrunners with a 71.73 stroke average over 30 rounds this season. In fact, he is flirting with the program’s single-season scoring average of 71.94 set by Hunter Bott in 2023-24. The Guadalajara, Mexico, native boasts 18 par-or-better scorecards, including five sub-70 scores, this season. He tied a pair of school records with an 8-under 64 in the opening round and 10-under 134 through 36 holes of the Golden Nugget Invitational in March, eventually finishing third with a 13-under 203, one shot off the UTSA standard for 54-hole total. He owns five top 10s highlighted by his first collegiate win at the Military City Collegiate presented by USAA in February at TPC San Antonio.

Martinez stands second on the squad with a 73.08 scoring average through 12 rounds. The sophomore from Houston Memorial High School has posted four par-or-better scorecards with two sub-70 rounds. He tied for seventh at the Compadres Collegiate and was 14th with a 2-over 212 at the Tiger Intercollegiate in his last outing.

Bare ranks third among Roadrunners with a 73.5 stroke average in 30 rounds. The redshirt junior out of Waco has registered a dozen par-or-better scores and he has broken 70 five times, including four times this spring. He logged back-to-back top 10s earlier this year, finishing seventh at the Military City Collegiate and tying for fifth with a 9-under 207 (70-67-70) at the Golden Nugget Invitational.

Vargas is right behind Bare with his 73.56 scoring average over 27 rounds. The senior from Lubbock has turned in 12 par-or-better scorecards, highlighted by a 5-under 67 that capped a 5-under 211 to tie for 12th at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate last month.

Solorza carries a 73.85 stroke average over 27 rounds this season, while he ranks second during the spring with a72.78 mark through 18 rounds. The redshirt freshman from Guadalajara, Mexico, has posted nine par-or-better scorecards, including three sub-70 rounds. He owns a pair of top 10s, tying for eighth at the Military City Collegiate and earning a share of fifth with a 5-under 211 (69-75-67) at the Bell Bank “Pay It Forward” Collegiate in March.

Acharya has appeared in five tournaments — all this spring — and recorded a 74.4 stroke average over 15 rounds. The freshman from Nepal has posted four par-or-better scores paced by a 6-under 66 in the opening round of the Golden Nugget Invitational where he followed with back-to-back 70s en route to placing fourth with a 10-under 206.
