‘Runners fall to No. 3 Red Raiders

SAN ANTONIO— The UTSA softball team suffered a 10-0 defeat via the run rule at the hands of No. 3 Texas Tech on Tuesday at Roadrunner Field.

The Roadrunners (20-25, 8-10 American) fell to the Red Raiders (42-3, 16-2 Big 12) as freshman Arlette Hernandez (11-12) was pegged with the loss and Kaitlyn Terry (17-1) earned the win. At the plate, freshman Brookelynn Meador logged UTSA’s lone hit of the afternoon.

Texas Tech started off hot, plating three in the first and three in the second, increasing their advantage to six. Sophomore Kaylie Olivarez tossed a clean third, but the Red Raiders used crooked numbers in the fourth and fifth to work a 10-0 lead.

From there, UTSA was unable to spark a comeback and will look to bounce back this weekend as they visit Birmingham, Alabama, for a three-game American Conference series against UAB, beginning on Friday at Mary Bowers Field.
