DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The UTSA Cheer program recorded a phenomenal weekend at the 2026 National Cheerleaders Association National Championships at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla., highlighted by the Roadrunners’ first-ever Spirit Rally National Championship.
It marks the third overall national championship in UTSA Cheer history, joining the 2012 All-Girl squad and the 2021 Small – Coed team.
In winning the Spirit Rally National Championship, the Roadrunners defeated teams from Ohio State, Mississippi State and Michigan on Saturday.
UTSA’s iconic mascot Rowdy was the national runner-up in the Mascot Finals, edged narrowly by Georgia Tech’s Buzz. Rowdy defeated mascots from Texas State (Boko the Bobcat), Air Force (The Bird) and North Texas (Scrappy).
The Roadrunners also placed ninth in the Advanced All-Girl Final, marking three top-10 national finishes for UTSA at the 2026 NCA National Championships.
