First Home Defeat Comes on Thursday

SAN ANTONIO – On Thursday, UTSA Women’s Tennis returned to action, hosting fellow American Conference member Wichita State. The Roadrunners put up a fight against the 36th-ranked team in the land, but ultimately fell by a 4-1 margin. The defeat was the first for the squad at home in 2026, dropping UTSA to 6-6 overall this spring.

Giuliana Giardina excelled on court six, coming away with back-to-back 6-2 set victories. Elsewhere, Akari Tomoyose and Aoka Nagasawa each took their opening set as UTSA applied pressure on the nationally-recognized Shockers. Both Roadrunners were unable to finish their second set, however, as WSU clinched the match at the conclusion of court two’s affair.
