SAN ANTONIO— The UTSA women’s basketball team suffered a 53-41 defeat at the hands of Tulsa on Wednesday in what represented the final home game of American Conference play.

The Roadrunners (13-15, 8-9 American) fell to the Golden Hurricane (19-10, 11-6 American), with senior Cheyenne Rowe finishing one board shy of the double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. Classmate Ereauna Hardaway led the team in scoring, logging 11, and junior Idara Udo scored six with nine rebounds.

A Robles jumper sparked a 7-0 run that afforded the squad a 9-5 edge midway through the first. TU got a triple to fall, and Hardaway matched for a 12-8 lead at the first quarter’s conclusion.

Back-to-back makes from beyond the arc opened the second for Tulsa, handing them a 14-12 edge. Udo hit one from the charity stripe, and the Golden Hurricane connected on another triple to increase their advantage to four. Tulsa added one more bucket before heading to the locker room, up 19-13.

Tulsa increased its advantage to 13 in the third, ahead of a 40-26 lead entering the fourth.

UTSA was unable to spark a comeback in the final frame, falling 53-41.

The Roadrunners will now close out the regular season on Saturday, with a 2 p.m. matchup against Rice at Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston.
