SAN MARCOS, Texas – The UTSA track & field teams added five medals to their cache on Saturday at Bobcat Track & Field Stadium, wrapping up the second week of the 2026 outdoor season and Texas State’s Charles Austin Classic.
Highlighting Saturday’s performances, senior Fatoumata Kabo lopped 1.42 seconds off her American Conference-leading 400-meter time, winning the event with a season-best 53.24 clocking.
The Roadrunners opened the day with a medal-worthy toss, as senior Daisy Monie opened Saturday’s competition with a third-place measurement of 47.97m (157-4) in the discus. Later in the afternoon, Monie also delivered a fourth-place shot put of 14.81m (48-7.25). Also repping the Roadrunners in throws, sophomore Ryan Stillman was seventh in the men’s shot put at 14.35m (47-1), while freshman Trevor Kirby threw 13.13m (43-1) for 10th. In the men’s discus, sophomore Waylon McKenzie was seventh with a mark of 47.96m (157-4).
UTSA closed out both the field events and running events with late-meet silver-medal outings. Freshman John Williams III hit a 14.63m (48-0) skip in the triple jump for second place on his fourth attempt. In the meet’s final event, freshman David Zuniga registered a 14:58.47 clocking in the 5,000-meter run, ahead of classmate Ethan Carranza in fifth place at 15:07.98.
Also registering a third-place clocking in the 1,500-meter, senior Victor Charo ran a career-best 3:53.73. Also in the evening distance events, sophomore Diego Ramirez was sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a career-best 9:37.01.
Topping the UTSA hurdlers, sophomore Charlie Staddon reached 14.01 in the men’s 110-meter hurdles, while freshman Sunniva Indahl was at 14.44 in the women’s 100-meter hurdles, also for fourth – ahead of freshman Mya Robinson (14.67) in fifth and junior Edlin Laur (14.82) in sixth.
Freshman Tyler Madison had a productive sprints day, running 10.79 in the 100-meter for a fifth-place finish, later returning for fifth in the 200-meter on a PR 21.61 seconds.
Running his top time so far, freshman Israel Cuellar recorded a 1:52.81 in the 800-meter for fifth place.
Up next: Next week will be a busy one on two fronts for the Roadrunners, as elite performers will head to Austin for the 98th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, April 1-4, while another contingent will head back to San Marcos for the Bobcat Invitational and Multi, April 2-4.
