SAN ANTONIO – After multiple successful performances while hosting the UTSA Invitational, the UTSA track & field teams will head up I-35 for the weekend in San Marcos, taking Texas State’s Charles Austin Classic, Friday and Saturday, March 27-28, at the Bobcat Track & Field Stadium.
Competing in the two-day meet in neighboring San Marcos, the Roadrunners will travel 33 performers (16 women, 17 men) to the event – which UTSA is attending for the first time since 2022-23.
The Roadrunners are fresh off opening the outdoor season at home at Park West with the UTSA Invitational, registering eight medal-worthy performances – including three event victories.
This weekend in San Marcos, the Roadrunners will go up against competition from Boston, Hillsdale, Incarnate Word, Our Lady of the Lake, Schreiner, Southwestern, Texas Lutheran, Texas Southmost, Trinity and host Texas State – in addition to numerous athletes running unattached, representing track clubs and national teams.
The meet and field event competition will open on Friday morning at 9 a.m. with the hammer throw, ahead of the long jump and javelin. Only field events are set for the first day of competition. On Saturday, discus leads things off at 10 a.m., followed by high jump, shot put and triple jump. Running events start with the 4x100-meter relay at 2:30 p.m., followed by 100/110-meter hurdles, 400-meter, 100-meter, 400-meter hurdles, 800-meter, 200-meter, 4x400-meter relays – closing off the meet with distance as the 1,500-meter is at 7 p.m., on to the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 5,000-meter runs.

Up next: Next week will be a busy one on two fronts for the Roadrunners, as elite performers will head to Austin for the 98th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, April 1-4, while another contingent will head back to San Marcos for the Bobcat Invitational and Multi, April 2-4.
