SAN ANTONIO—The UTSA softball team is set to host Prairie View A&M on Tuesday, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. at Roadrunner Field.
The Roadrunners (18-15, 7-2 American) dropped a three-game series to North Texas last time out, but after taking the first contest, recorded the program's best-ever start to conference play at 7-0.
Redshirt sophomore Makayla Madrid was dominant at the plate last week, hitting .643 with an OPS of 1.714. She recorded four RBIs and scored four times, also logging nine hits and two home runs across contests against the Mean Green and in an early midweek game against Sam Houston.
The Lady Panthers (17-11, 9-0 SWAC) are riding a nine-game winning streak, their last loss coming against Houston on March 1. Most recently, they swept Grambling, outscoring their opponents 36-6.
Morgan Smith tops the team with a .542 batting average, while Mia Nunez leads the way with 30 RBIs and has been walked 15 times with six home runs.
Kayla Adams and Yasmyn Stewart have featured heavily in the circle, with Adams going 9-4 with a 2.79 ERA, while Stewart holds a 5-2 record and a 4.07 ERA. Adams has punched out 46 on the season to lead the Lady Panthers.
