IRVING, Texas – The American Conference released its sixth set of 2026 weekly baseball awards on Monday, March 23. The league recognized UTSA’s Drew Detlefsen as the Player of the Week after a remarkable 12-hit showing across four games. Detlefsen became the second Roadrunner to win the award this season, joining fellow outfielder Christian Hallmark from Feb. 23.
Across his 16 at-bats over the week, Detlefsen racked up 12 hits, batting .750 with an OPS of 1.925. The senior notched three doubles and a home run to drive in five RBIs and score seven runs for UTSA in a week that ended with a 2-1 mark in conference play. He also walked twice and was hit by two pitches, bolstering an on-base percentage of .800 while playing errorless baseball in left field.
On Tuesday at Houston Christian, he became the first Roadrunner with five hits in a single game this season, going 5-for-5. Then, he followed that performance up with a 3-for-3 outing in his side's weekend-opening triumph at FAU. To close out the series win on Sunday, he went deep for the ninth time this season, ripping a two-run home run to cap off an 18-8 run-rule victory over the Owls.
This season, Detlefsen ranks third among all of Division I individuals in hits (43), 10th in runs scored per game (1.48), 13th in total runs scored (34), 14th in batting average (.434) and 35th in RBIs (31). He has spearheaded a Roadrunner offense that ranks among the nation’s top 25 in hits (280), runs (237), batting average (.333), on-base percentage (.445), slugging percentage (.539) and doubles (53).
