SAN ANTONIO— Sophomore Ben Chetewy Ungar secured a singles victory as the UTSA men’s tennis team fell to Texas Tech, 4-1, on Sunday at the McLeod Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners (3-12) fell to the Red Raiders (11-7) as the opposition started off hot, taking the doubles point after Sebastian Abboud and Tyler Stewart beat freshman Maximilian Ontiveros and Chetewy Ungar, 6-1, and Niksa Arsic and Thiago Guglieri topped sophomore Enzo Vargas and newcomer Ben Chetewy Ungar, 6-1.
Arsic got the better of sophomore Oskar Grzegorzewski, 6-1, 6-1, to take a 2-0 lead, and Guglieri secured a 6-1, 6-1 win over freshman Constantin Radu to put Texas Tech one point away from victory. Chetewy Ungar kept the ‘Runners in the fight with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-1 victory against Thomas VanDen Dooren, but Bretin fell to Felipe Pagnacco, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) for the Red Raider win.
UTSA will next travel to Charlotte, where they’ll face Rice on Saturday, before meeting Charlotte on Sunday at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.
