SAN ANTONIO – UTSA Women’s Tennis rolls on with its six-match homestand this Tuesday, welcoming Southern Miss to the Alamo City. The Roadrunners (7-6) look to improve on their impressive 7-1 record at home while the Golden Eagles hope to pick up their first road victory this spring. The contest will begin following the conclusion of the men’s match between the same two schools, which begins at 11 a.m. from UTSA Tennis Center.
THE MATCH
Tuesday, March 17 (approx. 2 p.m.) – Southern Miss (6-4) at UTSA (7-6)
LAST TIME OUT
Back on Monday, March 9, UTSA welcomed SEMO for a midday clash, sweeping the Redhawks en route to a 7-0 victory. After a nailbiter of doubles action, the hosts never wavered. Ki Kroll’s bunch dropped just one singles set before dominating the tiebreaker 10-1 for a near-perfect day at home. With the victory, the ‘Runners jumped to 7-1 at home this spring with three such matches remaining on the schedule.
ABOUT THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Southern Miss is under the direction of Head Coach Piyanart Engineer, who is in her fourth year at the helm with the program. The Golden Eagles are out to a 6-4 start this season, most recently dropping a 4-0 contest at Louisiana on Saturday. A year ago, the group finished 5-13 overall with a 1-10 mark in Sun Belt play.
UP NEXT
The Roadrunners’ homestand wraps up with one more bout from UTSA Tennis Center. On Sunday, the Navy & Orange will host Tulsa (8-9) in a matchup of American Conference foes. Every home contest will be streamed on sporfie.com/utsa and available to follow via utsa.statbroadcast.com.
