UTSA to host Louisiana and Southern Miss

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men’s tennis team will be back in action on Monday, as they host Louisiana at 11 a.m., before inviting Southern Miss to the UTSA Tennis Center on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

The Roadrunners (1-10) split their last pair of contests, first besting UT Arlington 7-0, ahead of a 6-1 defeat at the hands of UIW. Sophomore Oskar Grzegorzewski has been UTSA’s best with five singles wins this season – all in the first flight.  Not far behind, freshman Maximilian Ontiveros boasts three victories, while classmate Constantin Radu, newcomer Timeo Bretin and sophomore Ben Chetwey Ungar each own two.

The Ragin Cajuns (6-4) are fresh off a 6-1 win over Norfolk State and are set to play UIW on Sunday before taking on the ‘Runners. Samuel Kyjaci tops the team with a 6-3 record, as Darius Balan, Gianluca Filoramo, and Nikola Kolyavhev all have five across the campaign. In doubles, the tandem of Balan and Kolyachev has gone 4-2, and when Balan is paired with Filoramo, they’re 3-0.

The Golden Eagles (6-5) will also play the Cardinals the day before they battle UTSA, and the team will eye its first road win after going 5-0 at home and 0-4 when traveling. Olimjon Nabley has been their best, compiling an 8-7 record, with Henry Lamchinniah on his tail at 7-6. The duo of Shamirul Shahril and Pasawee Reansiwong and the tandem of Lamchinniah and Dakotah Bobo both have five doubles wins.
