SAN ANTONIO – Marking the third Serbian set to sign with the Roadrunners this season, UTSA Director Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox has announced the addition of Serbian Champion Marija Nisić to the Roadrunners’ roster for next season, joining countrywomen Stela Cuk and Andrea Prvanovic in San Antonio.
“Marija has demonstrated outstanding potential and has earned five national championships in her career, representing her country on the international stage,” Fox said. “She’s not only bringing solid experience on big stages to our squad, but a proven progression, as we work to help her reach her potential in competition and the classroom.”
Like Cuk and Prvanovic, Nisić hails from Belgrade, Serbia and attends Gimnazija Patrijarh Pavle. In her most recent results on the track, Nisić finished sixth in the triple jump at the all-classes Serbian Indoor Championships at the end of February in Belgrade, coming off a Serbian U20 Indoor Championships title in the event.
Last August, Nisić represented Serbia at the European Athletics U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland and was sixth at the Balkan U20 Championships, following up a second-place finish at the Serbian U20s after finishing third in both long jump and triple jump at the 2025 Serbian U20 Indoors.
Earning fifth in the triple jump at the 2024 European Athletics U18 Championships while representing her home nation, Nisić reached a career-best 12.91m (42-4.25) measurement. That season, she was also second at the Balkan U18 Championships on a 12.85m (42-2) skip, succeeding a second place in the triple jump and 5.68m (18-7.75) long jump for second place at the Serbian U18s. Also in 2024, Nisić earned Serbian U18 Indoor Championships crowns in both the long jump and triple jump. She registered her career-best long jump mark at Serbian U18, leaping a distance of 5.85m (19-2.5).
Nisić has also been a part of the Serbian squad for the 17th European Youth Olympic Festival in the long jump in 2023 and was a triple jump finalist at the 16th European Youth Olympic Festival in 2022 in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. She earned Serbian U16 records in both indoor (5.58m/18-3.75) and outdoor (5.59m/18-4.25) long jump and also won the 2022 Serbian High School Championships in the event.
Her brother, Miloš is also a collegiate athlete, a sprinter on the Troy track team.
