BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 4 Seed UTSA women's basketball team will make its 2026 American Women’s Basketball Championship debut in the Second Round, as they face No. 7 Seed Temple on Wednesday at 2 p.m. inside Legacy Arena at the BJCC.

The Roadrunners (14-15, 9-9 American) secured the sixth seed after a regular season that featured impressive play by senior Cheyenne Rowe, who was named Second Team All-Conference after averaging 14.7 points per game at a 44.4% clip. She averaged 9.5 rebounds per game with 19 blocks and 15 steals, landing her on the All-Defensive team as well.
UTSA enters the tournament leading the American in field-goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 37.8% from the field. The ‘Runners' scoring defense of 59.3 also topped the conference.
The Owls (14-16, 8-10 American) topped No. 10 Seed Tulane, 86-77 in an overtime contest in the first round to advance and face the Roadrunners.
UTSA took both games of the regular season, as Rowe posted 14 points and 18 boards en route to a 50-47 win at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia. In the sequel, it was again Rowe who started with 26 points and 11 rebounds, leading to a 52-43 victory.
Kaylah Turner leads the conference with 16.1 points per game, while Tristen Taylor tops the league with a 1.98 assists/turnover ratio. Turner was named Second Team All-Conference, and Saniyah Craig featured on the All-Newcomer team, as she averaged 7.9 rebounds per game.
