Middle Blocker Makinsey Jones Transfers to UTSA

SAN ANTONIO – On Thursday, UTSA Volleyball Head Coach Carol Price-Torok announced the signing of Makinsey Jones to the 2026 roster. The 6-foot-1 middle blocker most recently spent three seasons with Kansas State, where she advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2025. The Wildcats rolled to the Second Round, earning the program’s first victory on the sport’s grandest stage since 2016.

Jones heads to San Antonio as a redshirt junior after representing Kansas State for the past three seasons, competing in eight matches with three starts. Most recently, she helped the squad to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament, earning a five-set victory over No. 8 seed San Diego before falling to the nation’s No. 1 seed, Nebraska.

The middle blocker last saw action on Nov. 6, entering during the fourth set versus Cincinnati. On Oct. 10, she notched a block assist versus Texas Tech. In 2024, the Wildcat notched five block assists and as many digs, notching four kills and three total blocks against North Carolina (Sept. 15). She did not see action in 2023, redshirting the campaign.

Prior to her collegiate tenure, Jones was a high-level performer at Topeka West High School, earning First-Team honors each of the four seasons. Additionally, she clubbed with Topeka Impact 18-1, winning the 2023 USA Volleyball National Championship.

Jones is the daughter of Terry and Helen Jones, with her father competing collegiately in track at Kansas State and her mother in volleyball at Colby Community College. At UTSA, she will study communications with the goal of working in media management.

Head Coach Carol Price-Torok on Jones: “Makinsey is a physical middle blocker whose size and athleticism will make an immediate impact in our program. Combined with her multi-sport background, her quick lateral movement, strong blocking fundamentals and offensive presence allow her to score both behind and in front of the setter. We’re excited to see the impact Makinsey will make on and off the court in our program.”
