SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men’s tennis team will be back in action on Friday, as they take on Oklahoma State at 11 a.m. at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The ‘Runners will then take on Wichita State on Sunday at 10 a.m. inside the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex.
The Roadrunners (0-3) will eye their first win of the campaign, after falling to Texas A&M, Arizona State and Grand Canyon in the early part of the season. Freshman Constantin Radu and sophomore Ben Chetewy Ungar have been UTSA’s best so far, each going 1-2 in singles action.
The Cowboys (3-2) were undefeated at home with victories over Saint Joseph’s, UTRGV and Saint Louis. Most recently, they fell to Princeton, 4-3, and Yale, 4-3. Aaron Williams and Haydar Gokpinar are each 5-0 in singles play, while the tandem of Williams and Nicolas Kobelt match Gokpinar and Alessio Basille with four doubles wins.
The Shockers (2-5) fell to Texas Tech, 4-0, last time out, and will face Oral Roberts and No. 13 Oklahoma in the Sooner State before battling UTSA on Sunday. Alejandro Jacome has a team-best six wins on the campaign, with Zaid Al Mashni and Pablo Roche Alcaya pacing the squad in doubles at 3-2.
