‘Runners fall to Georgia Southern, 4-2

STATESBORO, Ga.— The UTSA men’s tennis team couldn’t overcome Georgia Southern on Saturday, falling 4-2 at the Wallis Tennis Center.

The Roadrunners (0-9) fell to the Eagles (3-3) with Albert Saar and Edorado Santoni besting the freshman tandem of Timeo Bretin and Constantin Radu, 6-0, before classmate Maximilian Ontiveros and sophomore Ben Chetewy Ungar fell to Willy Mararchi and Matthew Mitchell, 6-1 to secure the doubles point for Georgia Southern.

In singles play, Saar beat sophomore Enzo Vargas 6-3, 6-2, but Ontiveros got the better of Albert Widell, 6-4, 6-1, to keep UTSA in the fight. Willy Mirarchi topped Radu, 6-4, 6-1, and the ‘Runners again replied as sophomore Oskar Grzegorzewski found a way against Gregoire Delattre, 6-3, 6-4. GSU, however, got the job done with Santoni defeating Bretin 6-4, 7-5, to secure the 4-2 win.

UTSA will now return to San Antonio, where they’ll face UT Arlington on Thursday at the UTSA Tennis Center with the match set to start at 11 a.m.
