Men’s Tennis to take on North Florida, Georgia Southern

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men’s tennis team will hit the road, first taking on North Florida on Friday at 9 a.m. in Jacksonville at the UNF Tennis Complex, ahead of a 10 a.m. showdown Saturday with Georgia Southern in Statesboro at the Wallis Tennis Center.

The Roadrunners (0-7) eye their first win of the campaign, recently falling to No. 33 SMU on the road. Sophomore Oskar Grzegorzewski and newcomer Constantin Radu have been UTSA’s best on the season, each going 2-4. In doubles play, Grzegorzewski and sophomore Ben Chetewy Ungar own the team’s lone doubles win.

The Ospreys (6-3) are riding a five-match winning streak, last losing to Miami on Jan. 17. Joao Portugal paces the team in singles wins, going 7-2, and Aron Major is undefeated on the campaign at 5-0. Portugal has teamed up with Jean Delaziere to go 5-2 in doubles play, and the tandem of Youssef Labbene and Enrique Pena is 2-0.

The Eagles (3-3) will look to avoid a three-game skid, with wins over Mercer, Chattanooga, and South Carolina State thus far. They fell to South Florida and Kennesaw State in their last two matches. Albert Windell and Edorado Santoni are tied for the team lead in singles wins, each boasting four, while Willy Mirarchi and Albert Saar each have three. The tandem of Matthew Mitchell and Santoni has had the most doubles success, with two victories under their belt.
