‘Runners fall to Mean Green, 87-63

DENTON, Texas— The UTSA women’s basketball team suffered an 87-63 defeat at the hands of North Texas at The Super Pit on Tuesday in American Conference action.

The Roadrunners (12-14, 7-8 American) couldn’t overcome the Mean Green (17-11, 11-5 American), as senior Ereauna Hardaway led the ‘Runners with 19 points, while classmate Cheyenne Rowe tallied 12 points and six rebounds. Junior Idara Udo added nine boards to go with six points.

The squads exchanged blows en route to a 6-6 tie midway through the first. The Mean Green knocked down a triple to spark a 17-0 run that saw a 20-6 score line. A Rowe and-one halted the run, ahead of a 25-11 UNT edge entering the second.

Another 9-0 run for the Mean Green increased their advantage to 16 early in the second, and they took a 48-27 lead into the locker room.

UNT never looked back, outscoring UTSA, 24-16 in the third to help secure the 87-63 victory.

UTSA will now return to San Antonio, where they’ll host Memphis on Sunday at 3 p.m. in a nationally televised matchup on ESPNU.
