SAN ANTONIO— The UTSA men’s tennis team fell, 7-0, against No. 38 SMU on Sunday at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex.
The Roadrunners (0-7) fell to the Mustangs (7-5) as SMU’s tandem of Trevor Svajda and Jerry Barton bested freshman Timeo Bretin and classmate Constantin Radu, 6-3, before Georgi Georgiev and Vikas Deo topped sophomore Ben Chetewy Ungar and newcomer Maximilian Ontiveros, 6-3, to snag the doubles point.
In singles action, Meethre Barot defeated freshman Yonatan Sagiv, 6-0, 6-0, and Jerry Braton beat Radu, 6-3, 6-0. From there, Krish Arora overcame Bretin, 6-1, 6-0, and Georgia Georgiev was victorious over sophomore Enzo Vargas, 6-1, 6-0. Rounding things out, No. 1 Trevor Svajda defeated sophomore Oskar Grzegorzewski 6-4, 6-1, to secure the sweep.
UTSA will be back in action on Friday, visiting North Florida in Jacksonville at the UNF Tennis Complex, before taking on Georgia Southern Saturday at the Wallis Tennis Center.
