SAN ANTONIO – Broadcast metrics are in for the third and fourth quarters of 2025 and UTSA Athletics programs are receiving record attention on ESPN platforms.
Among the highlights, UTSA Soccer viewership numbers increased 81.4 percent year-over-year from the 2024 campaign and UTSA produced a highly viewed fall softball game on ESPN+.
In addition to record-setting numbers in the production of live sporting events, UTSA Athletics also produced 64 live press conferences that aired on ESPN+ during Q3 and Q4 of 2025. The Roadrunners aired more ESPN+ “shoulder programming” than any school in the American Conference. UTSA was the only school in the nation to live stream its soccer and volleyball weekly press conferences and its volleyball postgame press conferences on ESPN+.
UTSA Athletics’ broadcast efforts are led by Director of Sports Production Elliott Greisen and Production Assistant Aaron Magill.
Football on ESPN+
- UTSA Athletics live streamed 12 weekly football press conferences and the December Signing Day press conference for UTSA Football, averaging 279 viewers.
- The September 1 UTSA Football weekly press conference was the most viewed weekly press conference in the American Conference during the 2025 season with 1,072 viewers and 6,848 total minutes watched.
Soccer on ESPN+
- UTSA Athletics produced nine home soccer broadcasts on ESPN+, averaging 1,536 viewers and 40 minutes of watch time per contest. Five of the nine broadcasts had more than 1,000 viewers each.
- These averages best the American Conference averages of 1,433 viewers and 38 minutes of watch time.
- UTSA Soccer home broadcasts on ESPN+ experienced an 81.4 percent year-over-year increase from last season.
- The Roadrunners boasted two of the top-10 most-viewed soccer matches in The American This season. UTSA vs. TCU was the conference’s fourth-most viewed match with 4,861 viewers, while the Roadrunners home contest with Memphis drew 2,135 viewers, making it the seventh-most viewed broadcast.
- UTSA was the only school in the nation to live stream its weekly soccer press conferences on ESPN+. The Roadrunners averaged 290 viewers per weekly press conference.
Fall Softball on ESPN+
- UTSA was the only school in the American Conference to broadcast a fall softball game on ESPN+ in 2025. The Roadrunners televised their fall home game against Texas State.
- That broadcast drew 3,211 viewers at an average of 42 minutes watched per viewer, which resulted in 134,720 total minutes watched.
- This is an increase from the average of 2,389 viewers who watched UTSA regular-season home softball broadcasts on ESPN+ last year.
- UTSA Athletics has returned the primary broadcast team of Alex Loeb and Olympian Cat Osterman for its ESPN+ broadcasts this season. The duo also works together on national ESPN linear broadcasts, has called countless games together for ESPN’s Longhorn Network and announces NCAA Regionals annually for ESPN. Last season, they were nominated for several D1Softball Golden Mic Awards, including Best Broadcast Team, Best Local Booth, Best Local Play-by-Play (Loeb) and Best Local Analyst (Osterman).
Volleyball on ESPN+
- UTSA Athletics produced 12 home volleyball broadcasts on ESPN+, averaging 1,327 viewers and 32 minutes of watch time per contest. Eight of the 12 broadcasts had more than 1,000 viewers each.
- UTSA’s match with Texas State drew a season-best 2,919 viewers.
- UTSA was the only school in the nation to live stream its weekly volleyball press conference and its home post-match press conferences on ESPN+. The Roadrunners averaged 677 viewers per weekly press conference and 199 viewers per post-match press conference.
