Nail-Biter Falls in Tulane’s Favor

NEW ORLEANS – On Friday, UTSA Women’s Tennis visited fellow American Conference member Tulane for the first of two weekend bouts. While the Roadrunners showed more promise than in their two defeats a week ago, a three-set affair on court six in singles action went to the Green Wave, handing UTSA (4-4) its third consecutive loss.

Match 8

For the first time in program history, Tulane competed at the Goldring Tennis Center. UTSA was the opponent for what was the grand opening of the new six-court home of the Green Wave. Tulane comfortably took the doubles point, but the pairing of Natalia Castaneda Guerrero and Giuliana Giardina did manage to take a late lead before singles play was cued. There, the Roadrunners took each odd-numbered court, but Tulane responded by clinching courts two, four and six. With the team doubles point already in their pocket, the Green Wave edged out a lengthy 4-3 victory to open the new facility.
