UTSA to host Roadrunner Classic over the weekend

SAN ANTONIO—The UTSA softball team is set to host the 2026 Roadrunner Classic at Roadrunner Field from Friday through Sunday, with Stephen F. Austin, Northern Colorado and UMass Lowell all competing.

All games featuring UTSA will be broadcast live on ESPN+, and live stats can be found at utsa.statbroadcast.com. Tickets are available for purchase at www.goutsa.com/sbtickets. A tournament central page can be found at www.goutsa.com/roadrunnerclassic.

The Roadrunners (3-6) enter the weekend following a 9-1 victory over Houston Christian, which saw UTSA’s first run-rule win since besting Memphis 11-1 on March 29, 2024. Junior Samantha Mundine, freshman Demiree Stafford, and senior Caton Letbetter all hit home runs in the contest, while freshman Arlette Hernandez (3-1) picked up the win after allowing just one hit over three innings with two strikeouts.

Hernandez and junior Taryn Madlock also carry momentum into the weekend, after being named to the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge All-Tournament team. Madlock hit .500 with a trio of RBIs, while Hernandez picked up a pair of wins off two complete games and 14 strikeouts over 18.0 innings.

The Ladyjacks (6-5) picked up an extra-innings midweek victory over Prairie View, and an earlier victory over Tarleton State snapped a five-game losing streak. Prior to the skid, SFA had picked up wins against Bucknell, Texas Southern, St. Bonaventure and South Dakota State.

Ellie Vance has been the squad's top slugger with a .561 batting average and a 1.156 OPS. She’s driven in 10 runs for the squad, four more than the next best Ladyjack. In the circle, the team boasts a 2.69 ERA, led by Amelia Hatthorn at 0.82. Hatthorn and Crimson Bryant have each registered multiple wins on the season, and Hatthorn owns the team’s lone save.

The Bears (4-6) logged wins over South Dakota and Harvard at last week's Grand Canyon Invite and have also bested UC Santa Barbara and UC Riverside in 2026.

KK Christie and Amailee Morales are tied with a team-best 13 hits, as Ella Gonzales has driven in eight runs. Christie also paces the club with three home runs on the campaign. Anna Wilming has been their best pitcher, owning a 2-1 record with a complete game and a save. She’s fanned 14 over 27.0 innings of work with a 4.41 ERA.

The Riverhawks (2-3) topped UTEP and St. Thomas at the UTEP Invitational, also falling to UT Arlington, New Mexico State and Utah Valley across that tournament.

Julia Rowley hit .571 in El Paso, and Avery Spinello-Branch recorded eight RBIs. Olivia DeCitise and Ella Van Alstyne picked up UMass Lowell’s two wins, with DeCitise throwing two complete games and also logging a save.
