IRVING, Texas – Having now earned his second honor in as many competitions, officials from the conference office announced on Tuesday that redshirt junior Jemuel Miller has been named American Conference Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, celebrating his record-breaking performance at Texas A&M’s Charlie Thomas Invitational.
Logging just his second indoor triple jump since the 2023 season, the three-time All-American from Bridgetown, Barbados, rose back to elite form with a meet-winning skip of 16.42m (53-10.5) on his fourth overall attempt at R.A. "Murray" Fasken '38 Indoor Track on Saturday.
That career mark not only breaks his own UTSA indoor record by .25m (9.84 inches), but delivers the second-longest measurement in American Conference history and sets a new Barbados National Record, snapping the previous 1992 mark by .22m (8.66 inches).
Miller and the Roadrunners are set for one final indoor regular season competition this weekend, traveling to Albuquerque for New Mexico’s Don Kirby Elite Invitational (Feb. 13-14). Indoor postseason competition is set to begin Feb. 27-28 with the American Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Alabama.
