SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women’s basketball team is set to host Charlotte on Saturday with a noon tipoff at the Convocation Center. The contest will be the Roadrunners Salute to Armed Forces and Veterans, presented by USAA.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Jordy Fee-Platt (play-by-play), Carlie Heineman (analyst) and Katie Goodman (reporter) on the call. The Roadrunners (7-6, 2-0 American) had a solid start to conference play, first earning a 65-63 victory over Tulane before besting Temple 50-47.
Senior Cheyenne Rowe was phenomenal for the squad, averaging 13.5 points per game on 40.0% shooting and 15.0 rebounds per game. She opened the week scoring 13 and snagging 12 boards with two steals against the Green Wave before adding 14 points and 18 rebounds against the Owls. Her 18 rebounds represent the most of any Roadrunner in a single game since Elyssa Coleman amassed 19 against Wichita State on Jan. 6, 2024, and 18 ties her for the 11th-most in program history.
The 49ers (8-8, 2-1 American) picked up wins over Memphis and UAB in the inaugural week of competition but fell to Rice 84-59 on Wednesday.
Charlotte excels on the offensive glass with 17.8 rebounds per game, and Asianae Nicholson leads the way in total rebounds with 8.2. Princess Anderson paces the team in scoring with 15.1 points per game, coming at a 38.6% clip, and Zoe Best ranks second at 9.9. Tanajah Hayes runs the offense with a squad-high 86 assists, and she’s also swiped 32 steals on the season. Additionally, Caitlin Staley has swatted 23 shots on the year.
